Pocket Plain aims to publish explanations a reader can check. Thiago Costa is responsible for editorial decisions. This policy sets the standard for publication; it does not certify that draft or sample content has already completed review.
Evidence before a conclusion
Use official material for material claims about rules, taxes, rates, and consumer rights: legislation, regulators, government agencies, and the original product terms. News reports and expert commentary can add context, but should not replace the underlying evidence when it is available. Name the source and link to the relevant document rather than merely its homepage.
Check the document's date, jurisdiction, tax year, and whether a rule is proposed, effective, or superseded. A source's credibility does not make every interpretation certain. Identify estimates, unresolved questions, and editorial analysis. Never invent a quotation, interview, credential, statistic, or personal experience.
Independence and commercial relationships
Advertisers and affiliate partners do not approve coverage or purchase a favorable assessment. Disclose a material commercial relationship near the affected content or link. Identify paid placements as advertising. A provider's absence from our comparisons does not mean its product is inferior.
Comparison criteria must be stated before conclusions are drawn. Include fees, access restrictions, eligibility, risks, and meaningful disadvantages. If coverage is incomplete, say so. Do not present a sample table as a tested ranking or imply that every product in the market was reviewed.
AI assistance and human responsibility
AI may help organize research, suggest questions, and draft text. The editor must check factual claims against official sources, verify calculations and links, and approve the final wording. AI cannot serve as the named source for a rate, legal rule, or attributed statement. See How we work.
Dates, examples, and corrections
Published work should show its original publication date and last meaningful update. Correcting a typo does not justify implying that the entire article has been newly researched. A rate needs an observation date and source; if it cannot be confirmed, show that it is unavailable or ask readers to check the current rate.
Label invented scenarios and demonstration records visibly. Separate a hypothetical input from a verified market figure. Do not claim that a fictional case represents typical outcomes.
Material errors should receive a dated correction explaining what changed and why. We may temporarily remove content while checking a serious concern. Send the URL, disputed statement, and supporting evidence to contact@pocketplain.com. Our corrections policy explains the process.
