Template — have a lawyer review
This draft describes the disclosure standard for Pocket Plain. It does not establish that an affiliate agreement, sponsorship, or advertising account is active. The owner must confirm actual relationships and complete the legal review before relying on this notice.
When we may receive compensation
If we join an affiliate program, we may earn a commission when a reader follows a tracked link and completes a qualifying action, such as opening an account or buying a product. The provider sets eligibility and compensation rules. Do not assume a link offers the lowest price, the best rate, or an approval guarantee.
Where a relationship exists, the affected article must state it clearly before or near the relevant recommendation and links. Appropriate wording is: “We may earn a commission if you use the paid links in this article.” A distant policy page or the words “affiliate link” alone may not adequately explain the relationship. A sample record with no affiliate links should say so, without suggesting that all future content is commission free.
Editorial independence
Compensation does not purchase a ranking, a favorable conclusion, or the omission of a material drawback. Commercial partners must not approve editorial conclusions. We should explain comparison criteria, relevant fees and restrictions, and the limits of the products covered. We do not promise a complete survey of every available offer.
Identify paid articles and sponsorships as advertising. Ordinary ad placements should be labeled “Ad.” Gifts, free access, referral benefits, and other material relationships also need an appropriate disclosure. An ad appearing on the site is not an endorsement of the advertiser.
US and Brazilian standards
For US coverage, disclosures should follow the FTC's guidance on making material connections understandable and easy to notice. See the FTC's Endorsement Guides FAQ.
Brazilian advertising must also be considered under the Consumer Defense Code, including its advertising provisions, and the CONAR code. CONAR's self regulatory standards complement applicable law; they are not a government certification. Brazilian notices should use clear Portuguese wording such as “Publicidade” and explain commissions.
Tracking and questions
Affiliate links and advertising services may use identifiers or cookies. The privacy notice explains proposed choices and the verification needed before optional tracking is enabled. A commercial disclosure does not itself provide consent for tracking.
Report a missing or unclear disclosure to contact@pocketplain.com, including the page and link. Verify current terms directly with the provider before applying.
